Final concept

Hey Guys! So I’m writing today about our progress in our AR research to update you guys. Before i dive in to our research field, i have to say something important: We just finalized our concept! Finally! After changing it a few times in the last weeks! Yaaaaaas! Yeah we are very happy about that. So that’s why i want to introduce you guys our final concept idea. For that check the ultimate awesome graphic below:

The main steps, that we will do in the upcoming weeks, are:

  • to classify AR applications based on technology and assign applications as use cases
  • to find common issues of AR application and evaluation methods
  • to classify evaluation methods and assign them to AR classifications
  • lastly to develop guidelines for interface design

After these four steps we want to review the applicability of the guidelines. For that there are two options:

1.test our guidelines on AR applications:

  • which of our guidelines are already used?
  • what are the differences?

2.test our guidelines on AR applications, which are already evaluated:

  • which of our guidelines are already used and what are the differences?
  • compare our results with the results of the evaluation (do we provide guidelines for some issues that come up in the results?)

That's it for our concept guys.

AR research progress

The second focus this week were that we summarized all surveys that we had to read and made tables for overview. We made two tables for this. The first table named ‘Literature Overview Table’ is an overview for all the literature that we have and that we will find in our own researches. In this table are all the papers and resources listed, briefly summed up and divided in sub topics. So in the future we can find the papers super fast that we are looking for. Have a look at the picture below:

Plus it shows the progress of our summary and how we divided the literature between ourselves. Each item contains a short description of the content and where our detailed summaries can be found.

The second table is called ‘Literatur Comparison Table’, where we describe the surveys more detailed and order it in sub topics as well. Check it out below:

This table is in main sub topics like Definition, History, Trends; AR applications; Technology and Evaluation and Guidelines divided. In this table we focused on all the resources that were talked about in the surveys, we had to read. So it shows you a pretty detailed overview of the surveys content. This table helps a lot at times when you have to look up for some information about for example the history of AR or evaluation etc.

So that's it for this week guys! See you next week!
